Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists' Association invites artists and everyone interested to take part in the workshop “Crystalization” with a geologist Simonas Saarmann. This event is part of the series of “do-it-yourself” workshops at the project space “Malonioji 6” and will continue the investigation in the relationship between live organisms and non-live elements.

In this workshop the participants will look into the macro universe of crystals and will discover them in their daily environment. During discussions such questions as how live is the crystal and how to distinguish it from other elements will be raised. The participants will be introduced to crystal formation and occurrence in nature, as well as methods of crystal growing. They will also get a chance to grow their own crystal.

Simonas Saarmann is a geologist, a PhD student at Vilnius University. He is currently lecturing and organising excursions in the museum of geology as well as in nature. He is building his own collection of minerals and rocks and is constantly looking for connections between natural phenomena and our thinking.

Workshop language: Lithuanian/English

This event is organized by Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists' Association in collaboration with Institutio Media and is partly supported by Lithuanian Council For Culture as well as the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania.
